Sole developer for one of the biggest family law firms in Wisconsin. A 4,000+ page WordPress site that was slow and bloated, with every form fill the firm receives coming through the website. I took Core Web Vitals from 10% to 90%++ Good, grew conversion 46%, and built 24/7 monitoring that cut incident response from days to under 30 minutes.

About me
the person behind the pagesI started in UX design in 2015, drawing interfaces before I ever built one. Freelancing on Upwork came next, then a design-and-customers hybrid role at Talkpush, a recruiting platform. In 2022 I crossed to the other side of the screen for good and became a WordPress developer. I joined Sterling Lawyers, a law firm, and got promoted to lead WordPress at Rocket Clicks, their marketing agency for law firms, where sites live and die by search rankings.
My favorite part is the strategy: architecting the solution before touching the keyboard. The design background helps here, so nothing gets lost between the mockup and the live site. And because the pages I make are measured on real users, “looks good” isn't done until Core Web Vitals agrees.
Off the clock: chasing strength numbers at the gym, slowly (slowly) learning Spanish, working through a manga pile, and getting lost in Guild Wars 2. I'm also getting into photography with a Fuji X-T30 III, which mostly means my cat Maddie has a very patient personal photographer.

Field notes
things I learned the hard wayThe biggest CWV win on a 4,000+ page site wasn't one big fix. It was 40 small ones, prioritized by impact.
Page builders ship roughly 4x the JavaScript of a custom theme. The evidence is right there in the bundle.
Self-hosted, subset fonts are the cheapest LCP win on the board. Removing one font request beats stacking three optimizations.
Caching is a multiplier, not a fix. It makes a fast site faster and a broken site broken faster.
The Salesforce integration broke monthly for years because nobody checked the API's rate limits until the 500s became routine.
Form errors silently eat leads. A small automation catching malformed submissions recovered revenue the client never knew it was losing.
Monitoring only pays off when the alert reaches a human with a runbook. Same-day resolution beats a perfect dashboard.
Most 'slow site' tickets are three things: huge images, render-blocking scripts, and a plugin doing what a 5-line snippet does.
Lighthouse is a floor, not a ceiling. Field data tells you what real users actually hit.
